Water: the Other Oil
When we finally realize that we have been focusing on the wrong thing all along, we will return our attention to what is arguably THE most precious, non-renewable, vital natural resource we have: water. A slightly sad tale about our stewardship of the “other oil” and ramifications for the future, as well as some inspiration for what we can do in our professions as Place Makers to correct our course.

Jennifer Jermalowicz-Jones
Jennifer L. Jermalowicz-Jones is the Water Resources Director at Lakeshore Environmental, Inc. based in Grand Haven, MI. She grew up in Commerce Township (Oakland County) and began her love for lakes at the age of 4. Today, she manages many lakes throughout Michigan and actively publishes scientific papers and conducts lake research. She obtained her B.S. In Biology/Limnology from Michigan Tech University and her M.S. in Water Resources from Grand Valley State University. She is currently studying for her doctorate in Water Resource Management at Michigan State University.
