Sustainable living space... reimagined

Meet Your Team

Michael Klement

AIA, NCARB, AIBD, CPHC
Principal

When I was a young man someone shared something with me that made a deep and lasting impression. I didn’t really fully get the impact until now, looking back, with over 35 years of experience behind me. I heeded that sage advice. I chose a job that I loved… and I have never had to work a single day in my life. And the best part is I get to do what I love, with people I love, for clients that I love. Pretty amazing- and even more amazing are the possibilities that lie before me both for us at AR and for our clients.

Solving the meaningful puzzle of bringing different combinations and groupings of spaces together is a joy known by all architectural designers. This occurs all the more so for the residential designer who has the privilege of working closely with the people who will actually live in and regularly experience artfully designed and engineered spaces. Together we get to adjust the design from all perspectives, just so, to respond to the unique dreams of individuals. Why Architecture – people, puzzles, art, math, experiences… and as a bonus more responsible built environments bring benefits to our whole planet.

Dale Babcock

CPHC
Project Designer

As a freshman in high school I took my first architectural drafting course and at that point became hooked on architecture. I went on to take all of the classes that the industrial technologies department had to offer, and even helped to create some advanced courses for myself to enroll in. After high school I spent a couple years at Adrian College taking more Architecture and Interior Design courses. I then transferred over to U of M to pursue my degrees in Architecture. Right from the beginning, and through all of my studies, residential architecture has been my passion. Working with people to design and re-design their homes, the spaces where life happens, has always excited me.

Alex Jackson

RA, CPHC
Project Designer

I hold a Bachelor of Science in Architecture degree from the University of Michigan where he won first place in the Wallenberg studio design competition and a Master of Architecture degree from the University of Oregon with a concentration in sustainability. After spending over six years in the building industry doing everything from swinging a hammer, to developing budgets, to preparing architectural drawings – I found a home at Architectural Resource. Everyday my work is fueled by a passion for sustainable design and an insatiable curiosity for discovering new ways to built cost effective beautiful homes. While not at the office you can find me canoeing with my wife and two young boys and tending to my wild spiral shaped garden.

Trevor Werthmann

Project Designer

I have known from a young age that I not only wanted to be an architect, but to design houses in which people can lead their lives. While studying at Lawrence Technological University, I was exposed to sustainable architecture as an opportunity to balance architecture with my other passion for preserving our beautiful planet. While continuing to develop my knowledge of sustainability in the practice of architecture, I became connected with Architectural Resource as the leading authority on high performance architecture in Michigan. I immediately began working with the team as part of the Enhanced Intern Program, learning from the best and building my skills as a professional. Upon finishing my education, I became a full-time member of the team as a Project Designer.

Isabella Schneider

Architectural Intern

While studying at the University of Michigan, I took my first architecture studio as a sophomore on a whim, and it was then I knew exactly where I was supposed to be. My interest in the field began with my upbringing; coming from a family of carpenters, from a young age I developed a lasting appreciation for the hard work and labor that goes into building, along with a firm belief that architecture does not end at the computer screen, but is a powerful mechanism that actively shapes every corner of the tangible world we inhabit. Since then, I’ve built upon my love for hands-on making and problem solving through welding, woodworking and other mediums. I am driven by a passion for exploring all facets of design, both in the office and through independent projects. Here at AR I have been given the opportunity to challenge my capabilities and expand my knowledge of what it means to be an architect.

Steve Reinhart

Architectural Intern

Since beginning my architectural studies, I have known this field was where I belonged. Starting with a diploma in Architectural Technology from St. Clair College, I pursued my passion spending a year at Toronto Metropolitan University before landing at Lawrence Technological University to complete my degree. Early experience working within an engineering department showed me quickly that I craved more meaningful, design-driven work. The satisfaction of solving problems for people through architecture is what excites me everyday. Here I discovered a team at the forefront of sustainability and innovation in architecture. Starting my career surrounded by some of the best in the business has been an incredible privilege.
