Michigan Greenstar Remodeling Contractor Qualifying Training
AES, Next Building Forum & MNGS have partnered to bring a Remodeling Program that allows homes to participate in a green certification without going to the lengths and costs of LEED for Homes, National Green Building Standard or GreenBuilt Michigan.

We are offering a major discount to the training, design review and project registration for those attend the pilot training, go through a pilot project and give us constructive feedback on how to make this program more relevant to Michigan.
Currently the checklist and manual are written on Minnesota guidelines but the cold weather climate program is applicable in our climate zone.
8 Hour Training includes
- Why Remodel Green? Best Practices
- Introduction to Green Remodeling Concepts and Opportunities
- Navigating the Michigan GreenStar Program & Checklist
- Basic Building Science Introduction
- MI Builder CEs (Green Building) /AIA/GBCI/NARI Green Continuing Education – 7 Hours
- Be able to lead GreenStar Remodeling Projects
- Become and official GreenStar Qualified Professional
Michael Anschel is heavily involved in the Green Building movement. He led the GreenRemodeling Group in the development of MN GreenStar Certified Green Homes and Remodeling, considered by some to be the most progressive and rigorous green residential building standard in the US. After serving as interim director, he works to facilitate the adoption and incorporation of Green building techniques into the entire Residential construction industry. Michael is also the owner and principal of Otogawa-Anschel Design-Build, L.L.C., a nationally recognized award-winning design-build firm that focuses on older residential homes. Otogawa-Anschel Design-Build has been dedicated to Green building for over a decade. They were the recipient of the first National GreenRemodeling Chrysalis Award, and the first MN COTY Award for sustainable remodeling.Michael has served on the Board of Directors for NARI of MN and his spare time is spent outdoors climbing small mountains, cooking, and reading.
