Michael Klement, and the employees of Architectural Resource, completed a new design for us in early 2013. We partnered with one of the final local homebuilders recommended to us by Michael, and the dream of our lovely, just-the-right-size, high-efficiency new home in Chelsea, Michigan has now come true.

When we first interviewed Michael, his passion for architectural design was evident, as was his knowledge of current techniques and materials being applied to the construction of highly energy efficient homes, Based on the general goals we had set out for our new home, we felt confident that Michael was the architect for our project. Michael helped us assemble a team of specialists, including the builder we partnered with, at Michael’s recommendation, early in the design process. Michael then shepherded our team through a tried and true process of Schematic Design, Design Development, and finally, Construction Drawings. Through literally hundreds of individual decisions, Michael was always ready and willing to give us expert guidance, alternative ideas, and recommendations. Once we completed this process, our home was built from beginning to end, without a single design change, and we are extremely pleased with the results.

In addition to architectural design, the specialized areas of expertise Michael brought to bear on our new home design included architectural thought leader Sarah Susanka’s concept of The Not So Big House, state-of-the-art construction techniques and materials for a highly energy efficient building envelope, the principles of passive solar heating and cooling and with an eye toward our desire to live comfortably and safely in our new home for many years to come, Universal Design. Michael as brought great value to our team with his extensive knowledge and personal experience with a large cadre of local fine homebuilders, engineers, surveyors, and energy auditors. Perhaps most memorable was Michael’s infectious excitement about our design process, and the true joy that he expressed, seeing us so happy in our new home.
