In California AB 1572–adopted by the legislature this past year and scheduled to take effect in 2029–prohibits home owner associations from using potable water to irrigate any non-functional turf.

One of the exciting alternatives to conventional turf grass is “xeriscaping”. Xeriscaping is landscaping design that features plants and other elements such as hardscape that requires little or no irrigation at all.

Here we have side-by-side examples of conventional, water-intense, turf grass landscaping and xeriscaping. To our eyes at AR the xeriscaping is not only a more sustainable approach it actually looks more attractive!
