I have been asked by Michael R. Klement of Architectural Resource to provide a letter of recommendation for his files. I am very happy to do so.

I first met Michael in early 2003 when. I was looking for an architectural firm to provide ideas for a remodel of our lake cottage. I had read an article in the local paper about an architect who created a beautiful design for a remodeled Arts and Crafts home in Ann Arbor. I called Michael, and we knew immediately that he would be easy to work with and filled with ideas for our remodel project. As the year went on, we also engaged a builder and Michael worked very well with the selected builder. It was Michael’s suggestion that we bring our builder ‘into the process early and it paid off handsomely.

After some time and design work, we finally concluded that it would be necessary to start from scratch with a new home, due to the structural problems of the old house. As we moved into a new phase of the project, Michael paid close attention to what we wanted in a new house, and in each proposed design made sure that our needs were addressed. The final design was perfect in every way for a lake house, still met our budget, and was a tribute to the old cottage that we loved. Michael and his team also devoted a significant amount of time and attention on the local zoning codes, which can be particularly contentious in a lake community. Due to the intensive Research of Architectural Resource, Michael’s final design did not require a variance and was approved immediately.

When the time came to hand to the blueprints and project manual to the builder, everyone who saw the final drawings was extremely impressed by the detail and clarity of the work I am sure that this contributed to the ensuing smooth and speedy building process.

Now we are sitting in the final project, and it’s beautiful. It’s perfect for the way we live, the setting we live in, and the aesthetic that we love. We get many compliments frost friends, neighbors and passersby who have watched the house come together.
