Following up on our earlier post celebrating our most recent award-winning project, “A Pleasant Future Vision” PHIUS+ Zero certified passive house home, we thought we’d take you behind the scenes and do a series of posts going a little deeper revealing some of the high performance assemblies employed on this amazing project. The key to any high-performing home is the building envelope, or what we call the “third skin”. It is what separates you from the environment. For this home we developed a super-high performing double-stud wall assembly based on guidance from Joe Listiburek and Building Science Corporation. Although double-stud wall assemblies are not new, what is new is our understanding of potential failure paths for those assemblies. The wall system we developed for Harvey and Kay, and in fact for all of our clients, are designed to ‘fail safe’. By that we mean they are super insulated, durable and designed to dry out; either inward or outward. Learn more here: https://bit.ly/3QcZoqf and here: https://bit.ly/3WSGBnW
