Save the Date! We are very excited to announce that we will be presenting one of our all-time most incredible remodeling projects on the upcoming Builders and Remodelers Association of Greater Ann Arbor’s fall Remodelers Home Tour on October 3rd and 4th. This whole-house remodel, a Deep Energy Retrofit and second-story addition completely reimagined a humble post-war brick ranch into a Frank Lloyd Wright-inspired, Prairie-styled masterpiece. When adding a second floor addition (we’ve done several recently) a big challenge is figuring out where to put the new stairway. This design positioned the new stairway to the second floor directly on top of the existing stair to the basement, creating a core of vertical circulation. But more than just ‘adding a stair’, using FLW’s design style as inspiration we turned the stair into a striking sculpture that you walk on. It became literally and figuratively the centerpiece of the home- a functional piece of art!
