One of the special conversations, and cautionary warnings, that we shared with our guests at this past weekend’s Builders and Remodelers Association of Greater Ann Arbor’s 2026 Home Show was the guidance of not building a “BNO.” Coined by our colleague, Gary Kade, Green building consultant, “BNO” is an acronym for “Brand New Obsolete.” This describes the unfortunate situation that we hear from folks who didn’t have the good fortune to work with us at AR and have sadly come away from their new home building experience with a home that is ‘brand new and yet obsolete’ the moment they take possession. Had they have had the chance to work with AR they would have instead realized a high-performance, energy efficient, healthy, durable, accessible, cost-effective Home of the Future!
